LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL
In 2010, The Hague International MUN Foundation (THIMUN) acknowledged AMMUN by awarding it the much sought- after THIMUN Affiliation, placing AMMUN amongst the top MUN conferences in the world. Because of the continued hard work and progress of the AMMUN team, our conference has come to include the following forums: a General Assembly (GA3), an Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a Security Council (SC), a Human Rights Commission (HRC), a Disarmament Commission, an Environmental Commission (EC) and an International Court of Justice (ICJ), Sustainable Development Commission (SDC), The Advisory Panel (AP). Moreover, we have introduced new forums this year, which include the Historical security council (HSC), and a forum dedicated to our development the a special committee that gives the delegates an opportunity to debate issues regarding the Middle Eastern Crisis (SPCMEC), and a Arab League (AL) that will carry out its procedures in Arabic.
Over the course of the conference, we will be conducting and chairing workshops, producing a daily MUN newspaper “AMMUNITION” and entertaining prominent guest speakers.
The AMMUN conference is widely recognized for its high-quality debate and conference organization. Given that AMMUN is entirely planned and organized by students, one of its pillars is promoting youth involvement in pressing political, social and economic issues and encouraging youth engagement in diplomacy. By enabling delegates to experience the process of international decision making, our goal is to empower the next generation of politically aware doctors, lawyers, engineers, artists and politicians to express and debate their burgeoning ideas and solutions, in order to transform them into a reality one day. Through AMMUN, we provide a platform for the youth to voice their opinion and debate, to collaborate and enlighten those around them about the issues at the forefront of our political world.
AMMUN will also provide international delegates with an enriching experience in order to broaden their awareness of Jordanian culture through touristic excursions. Trips are arranged annually to Petra, Um Qais, and Jerash, locations that have received wide acclaim. In addition, two major social events are held for all participants of the conference.
Finally, the AMMUN team would like to thank you for your interest in our conference. We sincerely hope that your school will be joining us in Amman, where we look forward to welcoming you to our 19th annual Amman Model United nations Conference.
We are open to any and all questions; therefore please do not hesitate to contact AMMUN for any further inquires!
Secretary General of AMMUN XIX
